UTA Black belt Grading

Saturday 17th March 2018 saw nearly 30 students from the UTA come together to be tested for their next dan grade.

It began at 9am with all the patterns from chon-ji to choi-yong, then moving onto set sparring, self-defence and kicks. This two hour session did a great job in calming the nerves which led onto the theory at 11am.

With half hour lunch we then moved onto to the practical part of the test finishing at 4pm.

Well done to all students who passed and now onto the next level.

Training session in Northampton with Master Horan

Training session in Northampton with Master Horan

On Monday the 27th November our UTA Chairman Master Horan came to NTKD to conduct an hours training session for some of our Red belts and above on the topic of "Side Kick"
This lesson was covering the fundamental basics of this technique inc the applications of what we are trying to achieve with the correct attacking tool used. This also covered Side pushing kick and Side thrusting kick. The session was very informative and in depth. Body mechanics and leg preparation also played a vital part in being able to perform these kicks well by the understanding when, where and how much twist should be applied using the hips during each of the 3 kicks demonstrated.
On behalf of the NTKD students that attended I would like to say thank you for the time given by Master Horan for taking the time to conduct this training session, and I am sure we will be calling upon his services again in the future. The seminar raised £115.00 of which the proceeds will go to the UTA in preparation for next years Worlds and any other funding which may be required.
