UTA Umpires Course 2016

On the afternoon of Saturday 7th May Mr Owen and Mr Halter hosted a UTA Umpires course  in Biggleswade for all UTA black belt members aged 14 and above. The course was attended by students from many different schools around the region with some kup grades and dan grades helping out by performing their patterns and sparring to give everyone the opportunity to get some practical experience.

The very warm afternoon started with getting to grips with the Tournament and Umpire rules, and noting the differences between the ITF and the UTA, with everything from the the points system, to the official terminology and even the official dress code.

After a short refreshment break we moved on to the practical side of things with everyone getting a chance to put into practice what they had just learnt, with lots of questions and nervous energy.....and not just from the students performing their patterns or sparring!!

A fantastically ran course, with a very relaxed atmosphere, I would urge anyone who is eligible to take the course to book onto the next available one.

Many thanks to Mr Owen and Mr Halter for putting this course on for us and making it an enjoyable yet practical experience.
